Following is a statement by the Chief Executive, Mr Tung Chee Hwa, today (Tuesday) on the death of Sir Philip Haddon-Cave:

I am saddened to hear the death of Sir Philip Haddon-Cave, who served the Hong Kong Government and the people of Hong Kong from 1962 until his retirement in 1985. I would like to extend my heartfelt condolences to Lady Haddon-Cave and to Sir Philip's family.
