In response to media enquiries, a spokesman for the Chief Executive's Office today (Thursday) made the following statement:
"Before taking up his position as Chief Executive, Mr Tung has already made arrangement to disassociate himself from the business activities of his family, so that there is a clear demarcation with his official capacity as the Chief Executive of Hong Kong. Mr Tung no longer has any involvement with business interests of his family or his children. The Chief Executive has made a full declaration of interests in accordance with Executive Council requirements involving himself and his spouse.
"The HKSAR Government has received preliminary proposals from H & Q. We are evaluating these proposals and we are also awaiting more detailed proposals from the company. We will evaluate the proposed developments according to established government policies and will make a final decision on the proposal to establish a Silicon harbour in the overall interests of Hong Kong."
