The Chief Executive has acceded to the request by the Director of Audit, Mr Dominic Chan, to extend by two weeks the time required for completing his report on the Commissioner for Inland Revenue (CIR), Mr Wong Ho-sang.

The Director of Audit was requested by the Chief Executive on June 24, 1999 to examine the files submitted or represented by J. Enterprises Secretarial and Taxation Ltd. which was owned by Mr Wong's wife, to see whether any had been dealt with personally by CIR since April 1996, and if relevant Ordinances and internal directions and instructions had been duly observed. It was previously estimated that the examination would be completed within one month.
