The Chief Executive, Mr Tung Chee Hwa, hosted a dinner at Government House tonight in honour of the Convenor of the Executive Council, Dr S.Y. Chung. Dr Chung will retire after June 30 on the expiry of his two-year term.

Mr Tung thanked Dr Chung for his invaluable contribution to Hong Kong, particularly in the industrial, medical and educational fields. He highlighted Dr Chung's tremendous contribution in furthering the smooth transition of Hong Kong and the important role he played in furthering the work of the Preparatory Committee and the Executive Council in the last few years.

Other guests at the dinner included present and former Members of the Executive Council, Government officials, as well as academics, engineers and present or former heads of the Hospital Authority, University Grants Committee, Hong Kong Productivity Council and Hong Kong Trade Development Council.
