In response to press enquiries, a Government spokesman said today (Saturday) that at the invitation of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Vice-President Hu Jintao will unveil the Reunification Monument in Hong Kong on July 1.

"The Chief Executive, Mr Tung Chee Hwa, says that we are greatly honoured to have Vice-President Hu to come to Hong Kong to unveil the Reunification Monument," the spokesman said.

The SAR Government is liaising with the Central authorities on the detailed arrangements. An announcement on the visit programme and the arrival date of the Vice-President will be made in due course.
