The Chief Executive, Mr Tung Chee Hwa, will present prizes to winners of the annual dragon boat races at the Castle Peak Bay Typhoon Shelter(near the waterfront of Yuet Wu Villa), Tuen Mun, on Friday (June 18) to celebrate the Tuen Ng Festival.
He will be accompanied by the Director of Home Affairs, Mrs Shelley Lau.
The prize presentation ceremony is expected to start at about 3.30 pm.
A total of 101 teams will compete for 13 prizes in 26 races. The races will be broadcast live on TVB Jade channel.
Organised by the Tuen Mun Dragon Boat Races Organising Committee, with the assistance of the Tuen Mun District Office, the event will cost about $1.5 million, of which $1.2 million is sponsored by the Tuen Mun Provisional District Board and the Provisional Regional Council, with the rest covered by donations from local organisations and interested parties.
Free admission tickets for members of the public are available on a first-come-first-served basis from tomorrow (Tuesday) at the Public Enquiry Services Centre of the Tuen Mun District Office, second floor, Tuen Mun Government Offices, 1 Tuen Hi Road, Tuen Mun.
