Speech of Chief Secretary for Administration at Police customer service improvement programme

**********************************************************

The following is the speech by the Chief Secretary for Administration, Mrs Anson Chan, at the inauguration ceremony of Police's Customer Service Improvement Rollout Programme today (Thursday):

Ladies and gentlemen,

For our non-Chinese speaking guests, I would like to say a few words in English.

I won't repeat all I said just now but would like to reiterate that I greatly welcome these new facilities as a very visible sign of the Police's strong commitment to improving customer service. What we see here today is only the start of a broader roll out programme to 59 police stations and operational bases. The Police's wider efforts to promote a culture of service throughout the Force and their initiatives to enhance openness and accountability to the community are equally impressive. Clearly, Asia's finest is living up to its name.

Taken together, these reform measures underpin the strong partnership between the Force and the community. This is the key to maintain Hong Kong's position as one of the safest and most law-abiding cities in the world. I would like to thank the Commissioner, his excellent team and all in the North Point Police Station for pioneering this project.

Thank you.
