High Court Library Extends Opening Hours

The following is issued on behalf of the Judiciary:

The High Court Library will extend its opening hours two days per week on a trial basis with effect from tomorrow (Tuesday).

Under the scheme, which will be implemented for six months, the High Court Library will open until 7:30 pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays, except public holidays for the convenience of the users.

A review will be conducted after six months to evaluate the effectiveness" a spokesman for the Judiciary said.

The Library opens normally from 9 am to 5.30 pm from Monday to Friday and from 9 am to 12 pm on Saturday.

It has a collection of over 50,000 volumes of law books, reports, statutes and legal periodicals, and provides research materials and supporting services for judges and judicial officers, as well as for law students and legal professionals in the private sector.

The public may also use the Library in locating information or judgments for their court cases on application.

Last year, the library registered an average attendance of 370 people per day.
