The following is issued on behalf of the Electoral Affairs Commission:

The Electoral Affairs Commission (EAC) today (Saturday) submitted to the Chief Executive, Mr Tung Chee Hwa, a report of its recommendations on the delineation of constituency boundaries for the 1999 District Councils election.

The recommendations were drawn up after taking into consideration all the views expressed by the public on the EAC's provisional recommendations during a four-week public consultation between March 22 and April 17.

The report consists of three volumes. Volume I is the report proper, which details the demarcation exercise and the reasons for decisions the EAC made.

Volume II contains a set of maps showing the recommended boundaries of 390 constituencies and a general description of the boundaries.

Volume III reproduces 204 written representations received during the public consultation exercise and the minutes of meetings of Provisional District Boards on the provisional recommendations.
