The Chief Executive, Mr Tung Chee Hwa, will lead a Hong Kong delegation to Kunming tomorrow (Friday) to attend the opening ceremony of the '99 International Horticultural Exposition.

Members of the delegation include the Secretary for Home Affairs, the Secretary for Economic Services, the Director of the Hong Kong SAR Office in Beijing, the Director of Architectural Services, the Director of Information Services and the Private Secretary to the Chief Executive. Mrs Tung will also accompany the trip.

Mr Tung will attend an official welcoming dinner and the opening ceremony of the Exposition tomorrow evening. On Saturday (May 1) morning, he will attend a ceremony to mark the opening of the Exposition to visitors at the Exposition venue. The Chief Executive will return on Sunday (May 2).

The '99 International Horticultural Exposition will be held from May to October this year and is expected to attract some 10 million visitors. Tourists from Hong Kong may wish to visit the outdoor floral exhibition staged by the SAR, which portrays us as an open and transparent society in the 21st century with sophistication and vision.
