The Chief Executive has appointed Mr Lam Siu-lun, Simon as lay member to the Insider Dealing Tribunal to inquire into possible insider dealing in the listed securities of Chinese Estates Holdings Ltd. ("Chinese Estate").

Mr Lam replaces Mr Chow Fu-kee, Felix who resigned from the Tribunal for health reasons earlier.

Mr Lam is an accountant by profession. He previously served as a lay member to the Tribunal in the inquiry into the listed securities of the Hong Kong Parkview Group Limited in early 1997.

The appointment was made in accordance with paragraph 4 of the Schedule to the Securities (Insider Dealing) Ordinance (Cap. 395). The substantive hearing of the case was held before the Chairman of the Tribunal Mr Justice Hartmann today.
