In response to media enquiries on newspaper reports today (Monday), a spokesman for the Chief Executive's Office said :

"Media reports today concerning the Chief Secretary for Administration, Mrs Anson Chan, are pure speculation.

"The Chief Executive and Mrs Chan have a cordial working relationship. The Chief Secretary for Administration is very positive in her work and is committed towards Hong Kong. She has the respect of all of us.

"The Chief Executive has not discussed with Mrs Chan about her future. Mr Tung will not make any public comment on this. He will make a decision at an appropriate time, followed by public announcement. The Administration's priority now is to focus on issues confronting Hong Kong and to do its best in the interest of Hong Kong people."
