CE visits Peking University (Revised)

The Chief Executive, Mr Tung Chee Hwa, today (Friday) visited Peking University and exchanged views with both the faculty and students.

During the two-hour visit, Mr Tung had a meeting with members of the University faculty and administration, led by the director of the University Affairs Committee Ren Yanshen and the President of the University Chen Jiaer.

He then toured the Museum of Art and Archaeology, a section of the University's vast campus and the library. He was also invited to attend a question-and-answer session with students.

Mr Tung had lively exchange of views with students during the question-and-answer session. He was taken by the interest expressed by students in Hong Kong.

In exchanges with members of the University faculty and administration, Mr Tung was impressed by the efforts made by the University in high technology education, and research and development. He was particularly interested in the University's research and development efforts in communications products and Chinese medicine.

Towards the end of the tour, Mr Tung was invited to lunch on campus by the University faculty and administration.
