Nominations for "Outstanding AIDS Workers" invited

The following is issued on behalf of the Committee on Education and Publicity on AIDS:

Nominations for "Outstanding AIDS Workers" are invited by the Hong Kong Council of Social Service (HKCSS), the Committee on Education and Publicity on AIDS and Red Ribbon Centre.

A nominee must be a Hong Kong resident and have participated in AIDS work including treatment, care, publicity, prevention, education, research, counselling and voluntary services.

Under the "Outstanding AIDS Workers Recognition Scheme", AIDS work performed by nominees will be reviewed by a panel of adjudicators.

They comprise Mr HUI Yin-fat, Director of the Hong Kong Council of Social Service; Miss YAU Ho-chun, Director of the Christian Family Service Centre; Dr Conrad LAM Kui-shing, Chairman of the Hong Kong Advisory Council on AIDS; Mr LAW Chi-kwong, Legislative Council Member; Mrs Katherine FOK, Secretary for Health and Welfare; Rev. CHU Yiu-ming, Chairman of the Red Ribbon Centre Management Advisory Committee and Mr LIU Kin-ming, Chairperson of the Hong Kong Journalists Association.

"Nomination forms can be obtained from the HKCSS on the 11/F of 15 Hennessy Road, Hong Kong and the Red Ribbon Centre on the 2/F of 200 Junction Road East, Kowloon and all Home Affairs Department District Offices.

"Completed nomination forms should be submitted to the HKCSS or the Red Ribbon Centre before Friday (October 16)," a spokesman for the Committee on Education and Publicity on AIDS said.

The objectives of the Scheme are to arouse public awareness of participation in AIDS work and to acknowledge the efforts of persons who have contributed to HIV prevention and care.

"Outstanding AIDS Workers" will be invited to participate in a ceremony to be held on the World AIDS Day on December 1 this (1998) year.
