Chief Executive to present honours and awards

     The Chief Executive, Mr Tung Chee Hwa, will officiate
at the 1998 Honours and Awards Presentation Ceremonies to
be held at Government House on October 1 and 11.

     Mr Tung has accorded an honour or award to a total of
230 persons.  The full Honours List for this year has
already been announced on July 1.

     The presentation ceremonies will be held in three
sessions.  The first session will be held at 10.30 am on
October 1 during which the following medals will be
presented:

(b) Gold Bauhinia Star (GBS)                   13
(c) Medal for Bravery (Gold)                    2
(d) Silver Bauhinia Star (SBS)                 18

    disciplined services and the ICAC
(f) Bronze Bauhinia Star(BBS)                  34
(g) Medal for Bravery (Bronze)                  4

     Among the recipients are the late Mr Lee Ying-kwong
and Mr Thomas Crosier Larmour who are awarded the Medals
for Bravery (Gold) posthumously.  Their medals will be
received by their spouses, Mrs Lee Yip Po-heung and Mrs
Juliet Larmour.

     The second session will be held at 10 am on October
11.  The medals to be presented are as follows:

(a) Meritorious Service Medals for the         42
    disciplined services and the ICAC
(b) Medal of Honour (MH)                       38

     The following commendations will be presented in the
third session to be held at 2.30 pm on October 11:

(a) Chief Executive's Commendation for         42
    Community Service
(b) Chief Executive's Commendation for         24
    Government Service

     The recipients are from all walks of life.  They have
been given an honour or award in recognition of their
significant personal contribution to Hong Kong or for
their dedicated public and community service.
