Piano recital by Cecile Ousset

Hong Kong audiences will be able to appreciate the recital of Cecile Ousset, a world renounced French pianist, in mid-September as part of her recent spate of overseas tour before she returns to the United Kingdom for concerts with the Northern Sinfonia and the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra.

Presented by the Provisional Regional Council, the piano recital will be held at the Auditorium of Sha Tin Town Hall at 8 pm on September 19 (Saturday). Programmes include Chopin's "Polonaise Fantaisie" and "Ballade No. 4"; Liszt's "Sonnet de Petrarque No. 104" and "La Leggierezza"; Ravel's "Miroirs" extracts, "Pavane pour une Infante defunte", "Valses Nobles et Sentimentales" and Saint-Saens' "Etude Toccata, Op. 111".

Cecile Ousset won major prizes at many of the world's foremost competitions such as the Van Cliburn, Queen Elizabeth of Belgium, Busoni and Marguerite Long-Jacques Thibaud competitions.

Ousset has been very active in international concerts. She has appeared with all the major British orchestras and festivals including performances with the Orchestre National de France, the BBC Philharmonic, the Halle Orchestra, the Chamber Orchestra of Europe and the RSO Berlin. Since her debut with the Los Angeles Philharmonic and Minnesota Orchestras in the States in 1984, she has since returned annually to appear with orchestras such as Boston Symphony, National Symphony (Washington) and New York Philharmonic.

Tickets priced at $70, $90 and $110 may now be purchased at all URBTIX outlets. Half-price tickets are available for full-time students, senior citizens aged 60 or above and the disabled holding concessionary cards on a first-come-first-served basis.
