Immigration staff on overseas training

**************************************

Three Chief Immigration Officers and 1 Senior Immigration Officer will leave in mid August for the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Germany, France and Italy for a 6-week study visit programme with the overseas Immigration Services. Another two Chief Immigration Officers will attend a 4-month administrative development course at the University of California, the United States of America.

At a briefing before their departure, the acting Director of Immigration, Mr Ambrose Lee Siu-kwong, pointed out that the Immigration Department attached great importance to enhancing professional training for its staff. He also said that due to the growing complexity of immigration work, members of the Service needed to be vigilant and alert. Mr Lee said he hoped the attachment would provide a good opportunity for the officers to broaden their horizon and to have a better understanding of the work of other Immigration Services.

The six officers are Messrs Chan Yuk-chuen, Chu Kam-tong, Lo Chi-kin, Mak Kin-ming, Sham Hi-keung and Miss Wan Shiu-mei.
