The Chief Executive, Mr Tung Chee Hwa, hosted a dinner in honour of the visiting Duke and Duchess of Gloucester at Government House this (Monday) evening.
The Duke of Gloucester is the first member of the British royal family visiting the Hong Kong Administrative Region (SAR) since its establishment on July 1, 1997. He is visiting the SAR following a visit to Beijing and Xian.
During his visit to Hong Kong from July 18 to 21, the Duke of Gloucester had called on the Deputy Secretary for Transport, Mr Kevin Ho, for a briefing on planned infrastructure development in the SAR.
He also visited the Hong Kong Housing Authority while the Duchess of Gloucester visited a number of charitable organisations including the Jessie and Thomas Tarn Centre at Lai Kok Estate.
The Duke and Duchess will board the MTRC Airport Express train for departure from the Hong Kong International Airport tomorrow afternoon.
