Chief Executive's remarks on arrival in Auckland

************************************************

Following is a transcript of the remarks by the Chief Executive, Mr Tung Chee Hwa, on his arrival in Auckland, New Zealand, today (Wednesday):

I am delighted to be here. I am also very grateful the Minister (Minister of Commerce John Luxton) should meet me at the airport.

The purpose of my visit is to foster an already close relationship between Hong Kong and New Zealand. A large community of Hong Kong people live here and about 3,000 New Zealanders live in Hong Kong.

Additionally, I am going to foster trade and investment and to explain to New Zealand how we are doing since July 1st last year.

End/Wednesday, June 17, 1998
