The Transport Department today (Friday) reminds members of the public that a number of measures will be implemented on Sunday (June 14) to further improve bus services in Yuen Long and Tin Shui Wai.
These include:
* Route 68M (Long Ping Estate - Kwai Shing Circuit) will be truncated to Yuen Long (West) and Tsuen Wan MTR Station. The service will be operated at a basic frequency of five to six minutes and the fare is $8.4 per single journey;
* a new Route 68A will be introduced to travel between Long Ping Estate and Kwai Hing MTR Station with a peak headway of 15 minutes at a fare of $7.3; and
* Route 64M (Tin Yiu Estate - Tsuen Wan MTR Station) will be extended from Tsuen Wan MTR Station to Tsuen Wan Ferry.
Commenting of the arrangements, a spokesman for the department said: "After the re-organisation of bus routes on May 26, we noted that bus services in the area still need improvement."
"Several remedial measures have been made to better serve passengers," he added.
Three morning special departures of 63P (Hung Shui Kiu - Tsuen Wan MTR Station) have been introduced since last Friday (June 5) to relieve passenger demand along Hung Shui Kiu and Tuen Mun Corridor.
Existing bus routes no. 63M, 68X, 69M, 69X, 269B and 269C have been strengthened.
The spokesman assured that the department will continue to closely monitor the provision of bus services in the area.
"We hope the above measures would further improve the situation. Besides, we will keep a close eye on the passenger demand in the area and regulate bus services when the situation warrants," he added.
