Legislative Council election forums
***********************************
Two of the four Legislative Council election forums
organised by the District Offices for the Hong Kong Island
geographical constituency will be cancelled, the Home
Affairs Department (HAD) announced today (Thursday).
"Following consultations with the candidates
concerned, it was decided that the last two forums
originally scheduled on May 16 and May 18 should be
cancelled as it was felt that the electorate would already
have sufficient opportunities to engage in direct
exchanges with the candidates on the earlier forums on May
7 and 9 and similar forums organised by others," an HAD
spokesman explained.
"The decision, however, will not affect the forums
organised by the District Offices for the geographical
constituencies in New Territories East and West as well as
Kowloon East and West," the spokesman added.
