The Information Technology and Broadcasting Bureau announces the establishment of the Film Services Advisory Committee today (Friday).
"This is to implement the initiative announced by the Chief Executive in his 1997 Policy Address to assist and promote the development of the film industry in Hong Kong," a spokesman for the Bureau said.
The Film Services Advisory Committee provides a conduit for dialogue between the film industry and the Government and gives advice on the work of the Film Services Office set up under the Television and Entertainment Licensing Authority on April 1.
"The Committee also provides a forum for the exchange of ideas on all matters relating to the film industry and how to provide an environment conducive to the long term and healthy development of the local film industry," the spokesman said.
Appointed by the Chief Executive, the Committee comprises representatives from different sectors of the film industry, personalities with a close interest in and deep knowledge of the film industry, and relevant government/public bodies representatives.
The Film Services Advisory Committee is chaired by the Secretary for Information Technology and Broadcasting. Other members include:

The appointments which are for the period from 1 May 1998 to 30 April 2000 have been published in today's Government Gazette.
