120 nominations received for Legco election

    A total of 10 nomination papers from 10 candidates for
the Legislative Council election in May were received
today (Friday) when the nomination period ended.

     After deducting seven withdrawals and one invalid
nomination, the total number of nomination papers received
totals 120, involving 167 candidates.

     Among the withdrawals, Mr Albert Chan Wai-yip of the
New Territories West Constituency, Mr John Tse Wing-ling
of the New Territories East Constituency, Mr Lam Kwok-
cheong and Mr Tommy Cheung Yu-yan of the Election
Committee Constituency and Mr Manuel Chan Tim-shing of the
Wholesale and Retail Functional Constituency withdrew
their nominations today.

     Mr Lo Suk-ching and Mr Chan Po-fun of the Election
Committee Constituency withdrew their nominations on April
20 and April 22 respectively. But Mr Chan  submitted a
nomination for the Accountancy Functional Constituency.

     Mr John Tse Si-yin's nomination for the Information
Technology Functional Constituency was invalid.

    The breakdown of nominations by constituency/Election
