A list of members of the Election Committee elected in the subsector elections on April 2 was gazetted today (Thursday). At the same time, the final register of 800 members of the Election Committee is published.

The Election Committee, which will be responsible for electing 10 Legislative Councillors next month, is made up of:

* 683 members elected from 35 subsectors representing various trades, professions, labour and social service sectors, district-based organisations and the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference;

* 40 members nominated by the Religious Subsector; and

* 77 ex-officio members from the National People's Congress and the Provisional Legislative Council.

The final register is now available for public inspection during office hours at the Registration and Electoral Office, 10th floor, Harbour Centre, 25 Harbour Road; and 10th floor, Guardian House, 32 Oi Kwan Road, Wan Chai; and 18 district offices of the Home Affairs Department.

Any person who wishes to inspect the register is required to fill in a form and show his identity card. Electors may call the hotline - 2891 1001 - to enquire about their registration particulars.

Candidates may appeal against the election result to a Revising Officer, who is a member of the Judiciary, by lodging an appeal notice in a specified form.

A person registered as an elector for a functional constituency and an ex-officio member on the final register may object to his registration as an ex-officio member on the ground that he has declined registration as an ex-officio member of the Election Committee.

Members of the public may object to the registration of nominees nominated by designated bodies of the Religious Subsector as Election Committee members.

Appeal notices or written representations must reach the Registry for Appeals to Revising Officer, the Eastern Law Courts Building, seventh floor, 29 Tai On Street, Sai Wan Ho, during office hours on or before April 23.

Appeal forms are available at the Registration and Electoral Office, 10th floor, Harbour Centre, 25 Harbour Road; 27th floor, Wanchai Tower, 12 Harbour Road; and 10th floor, Guardian House, 32 Oi Kwan Road, Wan Chai, and the Registry for Appeals to Revising Officer.
