Red Ribbon Centre Activities on World AIDS Day 2003
The World AIDS Day,
which falls on 1 December each year, is a day of focus internationally
for the World AIDS Campaign, for promoting awareness of AIDS.
The theme for the Campaign for the years 2002-2003
is ''Stigma and Discrimination'' bearing the slogan ''Live
and Let Live''
To commemorate World AIDS Day 2003, Red Ribbon Centre
will launch the following events:-

In collaboration
with the Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) China,
and Radio Television Hong Kong, a joint publicity project has been
developed. The official host of the project is the Ministry of Health,
China.
The project comprises the following three components:
- Creation of a song ''Walk Together同行''
which carries the theme of promoting the acceptance of people
living with HIV/AIDS. The song is a collaborative work, as the
composer is a Hong Kong musician while the lyricist is a youth
volunteer from Mainland China. The song will be performed in
Putonghua by local popular artists Mr Andy LAU and Miss Sammi
CHENG.
- Production of a Chinese educational film 《Love
Under The Sun愛在陽光下》for appealing to public on HIV prevention
and care. The 15-minute musical film will be produced by famous
international filmmaker Mr Johnnie TO and will be cast by more
than thirty local and Mainland artists.
- Production of media and publicity events to
tie in with (a) and (b), viz:

- The premiere of the education film launched
in a charity show organised by the Ministry of Health, in Beijing
on 27 November 2003, featuring Mainland and Hong Kong artists
to appeal to young people for the promotion of awareness on
HIV/AIDS and the acceptance of people living with HIV/AIDS.
The charity show will be edit and broadcast at RTHK Radio 2
at 4pm to 6pm on 13 December 2003.
- Web premiere of the musical film on 1 December
2003 World AIDS Day at http://www.rthk.org.hk

- Announcement of Public Interests to be broadcast
in both Hong Kong and Mainland China around the World AIDS Day;

In Hong Kong, sexual
contact has all along been the major route of HIV transmission.
Sex education is therefore crucial in preventing the spread of HIV
infection locally. With technical support from the Red Ribbon Centre,
the RTHK eTVonline.tv establishes a sex education website: http://www.SexEdonline.tv,
and a launching ceremony is to be held on 1 December 2003 in New
Town Plaza Shatin.
The website, establishes by phases, presents
sexual health (physical, emotional, mental and societal well-being
related to sexuality) of people by working across the life span
from childhood to adulthood and aging focuses in age related areas
of development (parenting, love, sex, courtship, relationship
etc). The interactive approaches of the website includes content
such as letterboxes and advices from professional bodies to effectively
communicating people in all walks of life. The professionals are
being experts in sexology, sex education, psychiatry, social work,
religion, law and medicine.
